Luxury Caribbean Accommodation for Families

British tour operator, and luxury Caribbean holiday specialists, ITC Luxury Travel offers a few suggestions for a luxury family holiday in the region…

The Caribbean is a perfect destination for a luxury family holiday. The range of islands, facilities and activities, as well as the region’s renowned hospitality and service, mean that precious holiday time spent here with loved ones will create memories that will last a lifetime.

Some of the more popular islands in the Caribbean are Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia and Jamaica. You can fly direct to these destinations from the UK, and when travelling as a family this ease of travel will greatly improve the experience for children and parents alike.

The flight time from the UK to Barbados and Antigua is approximately eight hours and St Lucia is nearly nine hours.

Barbados offers a variety of activities that will keep the whole family entertained, including a pirate-themed ‘Jolly Roger’ which sails up the west cost of the island and Harrisons Caves which make for a wonderful experience of discovery for families where underwater stalagmites and stalactites can be explored.Treehouse Club

Family-friendly hotels on the island include The Fairmont Royal Pavilion, where a family-orientated holiday season programme is run which incorporates arts and crafts sessions plus movie nights and treasure hunts. Other hotels on Barbados that cater for those travelling with children particularly well are Sandy Lane and Coral Reef Club, both of which have hospitality services which mean youngsters and adults get the very best luxury holiday experience.

The islands of Antigua and St Lucia also have a variety of hotels that provide a wonderful luxury family holiday. Hotels such as Curtain Bluff and Carlisle Bay on Antigua have expert babysitting and kids’ clubs, plus a wide range of activities and entertainment aimed at younger guests such as kayaking and snorkelling. Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort on St Lucia is a particular favourite with families due to the many supervised activities provided for children, coupled with the stunning setting which adults can enjoy too.

Further activities away from the resorts and hotels that make St Lucia and Antigua great for family holidays include catamaran cruises and the chance to drive to the summit of a volcano or experience the Tree Top Adventure park on St Lucia or Stingray City in Antigua.

Many of the other islands in the Caribbean also make for superb destinations for those travelling with children from tots to teens, including Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines. On Grenada families can experience the wonder of a visit to Bianca C; a large shipwreck at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea, and there are also a great many opportunities for snorkeling and other water-sports.
Canoeing

For families who really enjoy sports and are happy to make activities such as tennis the centrepiece of their holiday a visit to Buccament Bay Resort on St Vincent would be a great choice as it has excellent facilities. A host of tennis courts onsite makes for the perfect way to spend some leisure time, while the famous Pat Cash Tennis Academy allows for improvements on certain aspects of your game with friendly and helpful coaches at hand, meaning endless hours of fun and learning will commence.

The Caribbean is an ideal destination for a luxury family holiday, and one which you’re sure to return to year after year.
